Jaga Jazzist finally Tubaloon
In the evening, the audience will experience one the best live band reunited after a long break, and Martin Horntveth promises a tremendous show.
-It's fun to be back in Kongsberg, says Martin, about being back with Jaga Jazzist after previous visits in 2003.
At the time, had the band's popularity really started to accelerate, after the year before won the Alarm Awards and his debut album was named Jazz Album of the Year by BBC. From there it just picked up, and this summer is also full of festival play, including both in this country, and in Rotterdam in World 3. largest jazz festival, and in Japan and the Czech Republic.
About the Festival here in town, he has only good things to say;
- I'm not really a big festialgjenger, Kongsberg Jazz Festival, but are both close to Oslo, always have a good program, and is a very nice festival, so here it happens I take the ride.
It is a long awaited comeback concert audience tonight can experience. After a 5 year-long break, it was nice to get back together, and the band has never rehearsed together so much as about the recording of "One Armed Bandit", which came out in January.
-Working with the disc has been a very good way to reset the band, and we have in a sense been a little "back to basics" this time. We have got two new members who have provided lots of positive energy and music on the new record has taken a more progressive direction, is full of contrasts, and so black and white that it almost becomes comical. He says, and describes the new material, that they are going to play most of here in Kongsberg, as even more playful than before.
With its ten members are Jaga Jazzist an unusual man strong band, but still holds together. He says that in many ways acts as the mother ship of all the other projects the various musicians are doing on the side of Jaga Jazzist. This makes all take their inspiration back to the band.
Jaga Jazzist is known as one of the best live band, and they look forward to finally getting to play at The King's Tubaloon.
-When we're on stage it is not allowed to have a bad day. For us in Jaga music is the most important, and we have tremendous fun when we play live, something we hope rubs off on the audience. Tonight we bring both slot machines and other props, so it's going to look really tough out!
