Silver City Sounds
Silver City Sounds (SCS) is a seminar for the international jazz industry that takes place during the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. The intention is that the most important Norwegian players in export-oriented, new Norwegian jazz can become familiar with a handful of the key international actors (agents, label, distributors and media).
SCS was first held in 2008 and contributed very first year to stimulate the export of Norwegian jazz. It also led to the world's five largest media visited the jazz festival at the same time, for the first time(and declared the festival with a very positive sign – the world's largest website for jazz even declared that “Kongsberg is one of the places globally to witness this edge of modern jazz slowly move forward”..) But SCS’ intentions of course linked to a longer-term perspective in relation to contributing to increased international attention to the Scandinavian (and of course especially Norwegian) jazz.
“Silver City” is of course a reference to Sonny Rollins' tune written as a tribute to Kongsberg for a longer stay in Silver City.
